Brush with Burden Art Exhibition 2017
This weekend was the open house and award presentations at the Brush with Burden Art Exhibition in Baton Rouge. This is a juried multimedia exhibition featuring all types of art inspired by the South’s natural beauty. I was so honored to receive a Third Place ribbon for my ‘Flying Egret’. The day I captured this image it was cloudy and overcast when this egret chose to land on the top of a tree branch. As he took his time during the landing, I was able to capture several shots of this beautiful white bird against a white overcast sky. This is printed on a 20 x 30 canvas. A second image, Peaceful Morning on the Bayou, was taken on a foggy morning from a kayak. If you have never been out in the bayous in a kayak in the early, peaceful hours as the day is beginning, I highly recommend it. Large colorful cypress trees tower out of the water as the fog and mist create a beautiful picturesque setting. This was a Merit Award winner. Printed on archival mat paper, matted and framed to 18x24.
"Autumn in the Bayou" was also juried into the Brush with Burden Art Exhibition. Both of these images will be hanging in the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge during the month of April.
